In Loving Memory of Lola ❤️
In 2020, during our last big blizzard, Lola was found outside our friend’s business @acupunctureoffbroad. Already an older lady, it was clear she needed help and likely wouldn’t survive the snow. We took Lola into Fishtails and invited her to join our crew of hospital cats so we could get to know her and find her forever home.
She was lovingly nicknamed Zombie Lola—when she arrived, she looked like a little woodland creature who had risen from the dead. Over time, that hissy, solitary girl transformed into the center of attention.
Lola battled and beat breast cancer. She lived a full life with FIV, was deaf, had skin issues, and yet became the absolute heart of our team. She was deeply bonded with her boyfriend Scooter, who adored her instantly. Her senior years were spent doing her “lady laps,” being fed Churu in bed, and enjoying frequent spa days—massages, treats, and love from at least four people at a time.
Our team gave her her own apartment, decorated with love and changed with the seasons. Lola and Scooter became little celebrities at adoption events—he played, she was adored in holiday outfits, always receiving Churu in bed.
We never know the path an animal is meant to take, or who they will choose as their family. But we were so deeply blessed to be chosen by Lola. Her place was always meant to be right here, with this team, in this hospital.
She was our comfort on hard days. Our joy as we watched her fan club grow. Our hearts as we saw her fur change, her confidence grow, and her desire to seek out her people throughout the day. She turned dog people into cat lovers. She taught us the profound gift of caring for a senior cat.
She was our home away from home. Last week, surrounded by her family, we helped Lola cross the rainbow bridge. The hospital isn’t the same without her and her apartment now sits empty. Our hearts, though broken, are changed forever.
We miss you, Lola.
You will be forever in our hearts. 🤍
Lola crossed the rainbow bridge in January, 2026 and was cared for by Fishtails Animal Rescue.
